Maureen has nothing but pleasant memories of making this film. The location was glorious, Delmer Daves was a wonderful director, and the locals were wonderful and receptive to the movie cast and crew. She said that after a day's work the cast would gather round to listen to Donald Crisp tell stories. Apparently Henry Fonda spent a lot of time fishing in the beautiful panoramic setting. The storyline is about a wonderful family and their struggle to raise funds to send their oldest son, Clay, Jr. (Clayboy) to college. The family unit and the importance of education are the foundation of this story with the happy ending being achieved in a way that surprises the audience.
